"Today, the EU digital Covid Certificate has reached another important milestone with the start of the EU level technical system, which allows verifying the certificates safely and friendly with privacy," announces the statement of press.


The gateway, which has been established within a period of two months, will serve as a verification tool for EU Covid-19 certificates, through which the EU is intended to restore freedom of movement within of the block.


The Regulation is established that it will be applied to one month from now on, on July 1, until then, the May 20 Political Agreement should be adopted formally by the European Parliament and the Council.


After the regulation comes into force, there will be a six-week phase period for the Member States that need additional time to begin issuing the certificates. At the same time, the Commission will provide technical and financial support to the Member States in this regard.

"I encourage others to follow as soon as possible, timely preparation will allow the entire system to be established and executed before July 1, when the proposal enters the request and the EU will be on time to open again this summer", The Breton commissioner said.


The Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides, on the other hand, insisted that it is important that Member States finalize their national systems in the next few weeks so that the system can work completely in time for the summer season.
