How to apply The Netherlands visa from Nepal

If you live in Nepal and want to apply for a short-stay visa for the Netherlands, discover the rules and how to apply.

What do I have to do?

You must submit a passport or other travel document issued in the last 10 years. This must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the Schengen area.

You must submit a completed and signed visa application form. Each person traveling with you on your travel document must submit its own visa form. Forms for children under 18 must be signed by a parent or guardian.

If you are under 18 years old and travel without one or both parents or guardians, ask them to sign a consent form. The border guards can ask for this form when you arrive in the Netherlands.

In a country where visa applications are processed by an external service provider, in most cases, your digital photo will be taken at the Visa Application Center. In all other cases, you will have to submit a photo with your request. This photo must meet the Netherlands requirements for passport photos.

When you submit your application, your fingerprints will be taken. These will remain valid for 59 months. Some candidates, such as children under 12, do not need to take their fingerprints.

Have you provided biometric data (fingerprint and photo) during the last 59 months preceding your current application? Then you can choose to submit your application to someone else. You do not have to appear in person. This also applies if you had your fingerprints taken over the last 59 months for a visa application submitted by another Member State of Schengen.

Please note that if, when assessing your application, it appears that your fingerprints are not in the system, you will have to send them. In addition, you can always be invited to an interview if your application makes it possible.

How much does a visa cost?

When you apply for a visa in an Embassy or a Dutch consulate, you have to pay fees. The visa fee is 80 euro. If you are applying via an external service provider, such as a Visa Agency, you will have to pay additional charges to the supplier.

Visa fees must be deleted for candidates from one of the following categories:

children under 6 years old;

Students from the school, students, postgraduate students, and teachers who accompany who are committed to staying for the study or education training;

researchers traveling in order to carry out scientific research or participate in a seminar or a scientific conference *;

Representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 or under participate in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations.

* As defined in point (2) of Article 3 of Directive (EU) 2016/801 of the European Parliament and of the Council (1)

How long does it take?

The sooner you can apply is 6 months before intending to travel. Sea people can apply 9 months before the scheduled trip date. You should apply at the latest 15 working days in advance.

In most cases, you will be informed within 15 calendar days, that your request has succeeded. However, it can sometimes take up to 45 days, for example if additional documents are needed.

How will my request be evaluated?

Some Schengen Member States want to exchange information about visa applicants. This check (called "consultation") is mandatory for certain nationalities and can take up to 7 days.

Your application will also be verified in the Schengen Information System (SIS II). In addition, your details of the application will be checked and recorded in the Visa Information System (VIS).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs uses a decision-making way to better make faster decisions about visa applications. For more information on how your data will be processed, see the Privacy Statement.
